Celebrate sartorial style at SCAD FASHION 2024

Join The University for Creative Careers May 16 & 17 for the annual Jewelry Trunk Show.

The Savannah College of Art and Design, the preeminent university for creative careers, will soon host SCAD FASHION, a highly anticipated signature showcase of innovative fashion collections from senior and graduate students in SCAD’s prestigious School of Fashion. Taking place May 16–17, SCAD FASHION will feature a jewelry trunk show and an award ceremony, both of which are free and open to the public.

The annual SCAD jewelry trunk show will be available for public view at the university’s flagship building Poetter Hall, located at 342 Bull St. On Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., guests are invited to marvel at custom creations designed, sourced and fabricated by talented jewelers and metalsmiths from SCAD’s jewelry design program, which is the largest of its kind in the U.S. Shop their artful array of adornments and take home an original modern heirloom to treasure for years to come while you support Savannah’s creative community.

Then join SCAD at the historic Trustees Theater at 216 East Broughton St. on Friday, May 17 at 5:30 p.m. for a special ceremony honoring Aurora James, who is the founder and creative director of luxury accessories brand Brother Vellies. James also serves as vice chair of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and is the founder of Fifteen Percent Pledge, a nonprofit organization that encourages retailers to pledge at least 15 percent of their shelf space to Black-owned businesses. For the myriad ways in which she uplifts global cultural traditions and supports artisan communities through her work, James will receive the prestigious André Leon Talley Award.

Other honorees include SCAD alums An Le and Julian Robaire, who will receive the SCAD45 Award in recognition of their extraordinary creativity and contributions to the art world. Le is the co-founder of international creative lab Now Open, a studio that specializes in global campaigns for luxury clients. Robaire serves as director of Chanel’s VIP Atelier, a position in which he merges conceptual and technical expertise, sculpting evocative garments that embody his sharp sartorial skill.

The culminating event for SCAD FASHION is the runway show featuring designs from talented students from the SCAD School of Fashion. While this event is not open to the public, it will be livestreamed for public view on Friday, May 17 at 8:30 p.m. online.
