Did shrimp deal doom Red Lobster in Hialeah? Here’s a list of closed Florida locations

Amid a possible bankruptcy, Red Lobster is closing more than 80 locations across the United States — including in Hialeah and elsewhere in Florida.

At least 10 Red Lobster locations in the state have been listed as “closed” on the company’s website as of this week. The only South Florida location shut down so far is the Red Lobster in Hialeah at 1750 W. 49th St.

The Florida-based seafood chain was considering filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as it looked to restructure its debts, Bloomberg News reported in April.

Red Lobster has not responded to requests for comment.

While the restaurant chain has not confirmed whether the closings are a part of bankruptcy proceedings, some locations have listed kitchen equipment for auction via an online restaurant liquidator, TAGeX Brands.

According to the TAGeX website, auctions are currently live and will end on Thursday. Winners of the auctions will be granted the “entire contents of the Red Lobster location they bid on,” the site said. Hialeah is one of the locations auctioning off equipment,

Red Lobster’s financial struggles worsened from an all-you-can-eat shrimp promotion, according to Restaurant Business.
