City schools gear up for summer camps
Patna: With the summer break kicking in from this week in city schools, several institutions have chalked out adventurous activities to keep the students engaged during the vacation. While this is the development in most schools, a few institutions have resorted to extra or special classes for their students during the same period.
From splashing in the swimming pool to enjoying adventurous sports and understanding the magic of the arts, the summer camps would aim to provide an opportunity for the children to have a fun-filled vacation while learning new skills and exploring their interests.

Fr A Christu Savarirajan SJ, principal of St Michael’s High School, said that May 18 will be the last working day, after which the summer vacation will begin on Sunday. “It will continue till May 28, during which kids can sign up for swimming classes and sports activities like kabaddi, volleyball, football, kho-kho and basketball. We will have special classes in Madhubani painting, music as well as arts and crafts for primary students. The school will charge Rs 700 for each activity,” he added.
St Dominic Savio’s High School will organize a week-long summer camp – ‘Camptastic 2024’ – from May 19 to May 24. During this, kids will get interesting takeaway gifts daily, enjoy delicious delicacies and get free t-shirts and caps. Several activities like swimming, pottery, Zumba class, yoga, dance and magic show would be organized for the kids. Additionally, the students are scheduled for a trip to the museum, movie shows and the water park.
Vishakha Sinha, principal of Bishop Scott Senior Secondary Girl’s School, said that they are planning to take the students on an excursion to any historical place. “We will organize this excursion after the summer break. For summer camp, the school will have an NCC camp and the formation of the school band. Students can also learn activities like dance, music and arts,” she added.
Apart from schools, Shri Krishna Science Centre (SKSC) and Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhawan, among other organizations, will hold summer camps for kids. ‘Summer Vacation Hobby Camp 2024’ will start on May 20 and conclude on June 6 at SKSC.
The SKSC has lined up several learning activities to make studies more interesting through exhibits. It includes astronomy, mathematics, basics of biology, physics (scientific toy), robotics, fun with chemistry, and learning with Arduino and electronics. The registration fee for each class ranges from Rs 600 to Rs 1,200.
