Magnitude 5.2 earthquake strikes La Mona channel, Puerto Rico

Last night at 8:30 pm, an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred in the La Mona channel, Puerto Rico, as confirmed by the Institute of Seismology of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo. The tremor was felt across several regions of the country.

The earthquake’s coordinates were recorded at a latitude of 19.34 and a longitude of -67.44, with a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was situated in the Milwaukee Trench, northwest of Punta Cana and northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

As of last night, no casualties or property damage were reported. However, individuals from various locations took to social media to share their experiences, with reports coming in from Santo Domingo Este, La Altagracia province, among others. Some described the tremor lasting for minutes.
