“Marmoush has a problem with his finger. The player and his team decided that he should undergo the operation after the end of the season in Germany,” Egypt coach Hossam Hassan told reporters on Monday.

The 25-year-old forward is a key player in Egypt's attacking trio alongside Mohamed Salah and Nantes striker Mostafa Mohamed.

Marmoush enjoyed his best-ever performance with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt, having scored 16 goals and provided six assists in 40 games across all competitions.

Egypt will face Burkina Faso in Cairo on 6 June before traveling to play Guinea-Bissau on 11 June.

Currently, Egypt leads Group A with six points, having won their first two games. They secured a convincing 6-0 victory over Djibouti in the opening round, followed by a 2-0 triumph against Sierra Leone in the second round, held in November 2023.
