KUCHING — In observing the Season of Lent, EMPOWERED Ministry organised several activities for the month of March for youths and members of the EMPOWERED Community leading towards the Holy Week and Easter Triduum.

The Cathedral Parish hosted a Penitential Service for the Season of Lent on Friday, 8 March and the Ministry organised a Preparation for Confession session for youths and young adults in St Thomas Room of the Parish Centre. The 30-minute session was to offer a conducive space and time for the youths and young adults to gather and remember the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well as to be guided on the examination of conscience. After the session, all attendees proceeded to the Cathedral to await their turn for Confession with the array of priests who were present.

Then, on Friday, 15 March, the Ministry organised a Community Lenten Mass at St Rose Room, ACCPC for all members of the EMPOWERED Community to celebrate. Fr Galvin Ngumbang, Spiritual Advisor of EMPOWERED Ministry and a parish priest of St Joseph’s Cathedral Kuching, presided the Mass and shared a reflection on the significance of Lent during his homily. Several family members of the youths and young adults also joined in the Eucharistic celebration that evening.

Finally, on Friday, 22 March, a Stations of the Cross prayer around the compound of the Cathedral Parish and ACCPC was organised for youths. Those in attendance gathered at St James Room, Parish Centre for a briefing and preparation before embarking on praying at various stations located around the compound. With the good weather on that evening, the youths carried candles, took turns to carry a wooden cross and led the prayers at the respective stations, before returning to St James Room to conclude the prayers.
