MARSHALL, Texas – Being an at-large selection for the NCAA Division III National Tournament, East Texas Baptist University will host the Marshall, Texas Regional Tournament for the second year in a row. ETBU is the no. 1 seed in the West Region as three teams will be traveling to Marshall on May 17-19.
 
"This is an unbelievable opportunity for us and shows how hard these guys have worked this season and what they have accomplished," said head coach Jared Hood.
 
Along with ETBU, Centenary College (SCAC Champion), Concordia University Texas (ASC Champion), and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (at-large) will be playing in Marshall, Texas. ETBU is 36-8 as the top team in the region and will take on SCAC Champion Centenary. ASC Champion Concordia Texas will face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.).
 
This is the second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament for ETBU as they finished in the National Championship Tournament last season as one of the top three teams in the nation. They have a 7-4 record in the NCAA Tournament all from 2023 after winning both the Marshall, Texas Regional and Super Regional over Trinity (Texas) and La Verne (Calif.). They will take on Centenary who is just 30-minutes away in Shreveport, La. Centenary enters their third tournament in program history last making the tournament in 2022.
 
Concordia Texas last played in the NCAA Tournament in 2019 where they made it to the Super Regionals winning the Seguin, Texas Regional. They fell to Chapman in two games, 11-3, and 3-2. They hold the second most appearances in the ASC making the NCAA Tournament now with seven behind UT Tyler's eight appearances. They will face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps who will make their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1996. They have played in six tournaments and are the SCIAC tournament runners-up.
 
The start times will be announced later today for the Marshall, Texas, Regional Tournament at Tiger Ballpark at Woods Field.
