Team Affinity season 2...

Analysis

Team Affinity kinda sets the power creep bar, what overall rating do u expect the first program to be?

We put in the grind to finally have stacked teams and most of us will get a couple weeks - or a handful of ranked games, depending on how often you play ranked - to use the cards.

It makes zero sense. If we repeat the same grind in season 2, a small percentage of time at the tail end, we’ll have good cards again. This means we’re literally spending more time using mediocre cards than 97+ cards that are actually fun.

Like someone else said, either do seasons and start with 99s, or do the power creep for the entire cycle of the game like we used to and let us use the cards we’re putting in time to acquire.

I really hope it’s 91s. I hope they understand that if they whiff on next seasons content like they did this one, myself (and MANY others, I’d imagine) will completely drop this game to play NCAA 25

It’s so funny that people keep saying this like it hasn’t been literal decades since EA made an enjoyable sports game

The only problem with your comment is NCAA games have the most overwhelming enjoyable franchise modes.

EA absolutely blows, but, I’ll spend days getting a low end D-1 school to the promise land.

I mean sure, they did 10 years ago. If it’s anything like Madden franchise now though have fun with that, those D1 schools likely won’t get the attention they deserve

If the cards are 89-91 to start with, which probably will be the case it's just absolutely ridiculous. What other Sports game makes you restart your progress over 3 months into the cycle of the game?

What will be my motivation to do it all over again? What so Sept we'll do the same thing for Season 3?

It's not rocket-brain science for the love of god. Inning Programs---TA----slowly raise the overalls of cards as the Season Progresses! Plan it out.

In MUT, we just got 99's in mid- April. About 8 months into the game cycle. If the morons at EA can accomplish that , why can't SDS?

MLB The Show set the bar for ultimate teams. Diamond Dynasty was the pinnacle model that EA copied with their sports games. I’m not sure if they felt pressure to innovate because EA was doing what they were doing, but last time I checked EA didn’t have a baseball game…

I don't think EA copied anything from DD lol. For better or worse EA does their own thing

I’ve been wondering why SDS didn’t model their power creep after Madden’s. I know EA is a greedy, money hungry bunch of gluttons, but I really enjoyed that game and its slowly increasing overalls. It was the first Madden I’d bought since like Madden 12 on the 360, but my buddies and I grinded MUT and had a hell of a lot of fun playing that game until MLB came out. We all stopped playing (me and another friend migrated to MLB, my other friend plays a lot of Destiny lol) but it was a super enjoyable game, and while spending real money on the game is highly encouraged, the power creep still felt like it made sense. Losing all your cards and progress after a couple months does not. I would’ve much preferred playing this game if the overalls progressed similar to Madden

I'm actually looking forward to playing with this core squad I've been building behind the scenes

I agree but I wish core cards were more focused on - not sure why it needs to be primarily season cards except to shoehorn a “start from scratch” model.

I think this should be the strategy: They should mostly release Core cards on an annual power creep model (maybe 70% to 60% of the cards released) and then have a small minority of cards that are demons released as seasonal cards (about 40% or 30% of the cards released). High overalls/99s should be more season cards throughout the year and should be treated as temporary boosts or supplements to your roster. Staple cards and the main players on your squad should be more of those lower overall core cards.

Big reward paths (season collections, TA, XP) should give you a solid core player at the end of it. Core cards should be the content focus with seasonal captains built around improving your “core” players and then we should get a new set of captains every season.

I think this model would be more engaging and could give a best of both worlds. Probably would sell less packs though…

it’s gonna be the same exact format if what they said to start the year is still true, otherwise expect a bump to 91’s

That’s what I don’t get…either do a power creep and no seasons, or day 1 99s and seasons. This feels like the worst possible version

u/Soft-Painting-5657 avatar

It’s impossible to smush the 2 together I liked both power creep and 99s but this system right now is terrible

Day 1 99s and seasons was worse in my opinion because 90% of cards released under 99 at any point were essentially worthless (it also made Live Series pretty irrelevant)

Now, at least lower diamonds are useful for a while, and a 99 Babe plus the two 95s are actually nice to have

If people wanted to use live series cards, They should play online with real teams

I hate seasons. Why not just end this experiment and go back to the old system?

u/Soft-Painting-5657 avatar

They would if it wasn’t for the money they’re making. There is people that aren’t even in this sub that just get on the game and genuinely have a pack addiction and just blind spend money on it

u/Blackhawks1995 avatar

I know that there will always be people who go crazy over packs, but I'm curious at the percentages compared to last year. I know a bunch of my friends who used to go crazy with stubs and packs refuse to put any money into the game this year because they don't want to buy/chase cards that they can only use for part of a season if they don't get them right at the start, or have them locked in as their wild card going forward.

If it was actually working, this year wouldn't have been a radical overhaul from last year. The fact that it is so different shows their little "experiment" failed miserably. If this year performs as poorly as last year (I expect it is actually doing worse, being as they have already started changing their tune mid-season 1), then, hopefully, we will go back to a sane game structure next year.

Probably 89-91 range if I had to guess with S2:C2 probably being 93-95 range

u/Peekay- avatar

Ideally same as season 1 - otherwise maybe 2 pts higher?

u/Younghitta3 avatar

I’d hope 91

Id expect Season 2 to be exactly like season 1 in terms of power creep. I believe it was confirmed to Bucco Nutzy that the seasons would work like that. Obviously they could change it but i would expect it to be the same unless explicitly told otherwise.

Has to be 99s otherwise what’s the point

It won't be, you'll have the 4 wild card slots to use whatever cards you want for season 2

You start with one. You MIGHT have the fourth one by this point of season 2.
