Ruth Persson Wallace OBITUARY

WALLACE, RUTH PERSSON, age 89, passed away July 10, 2002 at Westminster Towers, Orlando, FL. The first in her family to be born in the U.S., she was born to Gunnar Persson and Anna (Friberg) Persson on January 6, 1913. She attended East Landsdowne, PA schools, and graduated from Drexel Institute of Technology, Philadelphia, PA, in 1935. She was a member of Tri-Sigma Sorority. She was the loving and beloved wife of the late Henry B. ‘Pete’ Wallace, Jr., for 58 years until his death in 1996. Each day they were together and near a piano, he would play and sing love songs to her. She was a most wonderful mother and grandmother to her surviving children, Paul H. Wallace, Orlando, FL, and Ann C.W. Boodon, Barrington, RI, and granddaughter, Signe K. Boodon, Barrington, RI. She loved dearly her brother John ‘Jack’ Persson and nieces and nephews, Media, PA. She had countless lifelong and newly-formed friendships. Her kindness, generosity and gentle straightforwardness were gifts to all who knew her. Her generosity of spirit deeply influenced her family’s ability to meet the challenges they faced. She was a gifted letter writer, and in the 1930’s, she scripted and hosted her own radio show in Philadelphia. She enjoyed swimming, golf, travel, bridge and cooking, and especially her family and friendships. She raised her children in Tenafly, NJ, where she lived from 1949 to 1987. There, she was a member of Knickerbocker Country Club, the site of her two holes-in-one. In 1987, she and her husband moved to Vero Beach, FL. In 1997, she moved in with her son in Orlando. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday July 13, 2002, at 2PM at the Reformation Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church., Orlando.
