Leeds United's Patrick Bamford to miss both legs of the Play-Off Semi-Final against Norwich due to injury

Leeds United

Leeds manager Daniel Farke has said: “Dan James is making good progress. He joined in parts of the team training so there might be a chance he is available.

"Patrick will definitely miss both legs with a minor patella trauma and will need a couple of weeks to recover."

In my long history of being a Leeds fan, this is the worst day so far

Lucky Norwich.

Missing both legs is a hell of an injury. Can he grow more?

u/joethesaint avatar

No but they can put him in an electric wheelchair, remotely controlled from the bench and cunningly disguised with the use of fake arms

Now get out there, and let's lick some arse!

I expected to have one of them back for the playoffs, but based on what we knew about the injuries, I thought it'd be Bamford

It's a big loss and Bamford is easily our best striker in terms of general play, and no matter how many anonymous performances Piroe throws out, Farke never gives Mateo Joseph a go (even though he is a much more similar type of forward to Bamford, which I think would help plug the gap)

Saying that, I doubt I'll get too much sympathy for complaining about Joel Piroe being our main available striker 😅 because he is obviously a good forward for this level, he just doesn't seem to fit how Farke sets up, but could still be the hero, or could barely have a touch 🤷

I just don’t understand him. Not one part of his game is good other than his finishing and his movement is so poor that he never gets to show it.

The amount of times a ball is flashed across the box and he’s just not there is insane. And you just know Bamford would be there.

He’d blast it over the bar but he’d be there.

People will joke, but this is actually really bad news. We always play better with Paddy on the pitch and without him we're left with either Piroe or Joseph. Piroe just doesn't seem to fit in that position for us and it's an awful lot of responsibility to put on Joseph's shoulders.

My heart bleeds for you, truly

People love to hate Bamford. He has had shockers, but his movement off the ball disorients opposing defenses, creating space for his teammates to exploit. His link-up play makes everyone around him better, and his work-ethic and commitment is second to none. He's done well for us whenever his season wasnt marred by injury spells. Bielsa knew it, and Farke knows it.

I seem to recall he was nursing injury (although think he did manage to play) when we played Middlesbrough in the playoff final which was no small aid to our victory

Was the main reason you won so easily, we looked far more threatening the second Kike came on partnered Vossen.

Karanka decided to risk it and play him and he offered absolutely nowt. All the threat we’d had against Brentford disappeared

with Duffy gone for Norwich and Bamford gone for Leeds, their playoff semis are gonna be a true movable object vs stoppable force battle

u/BTbenTR avatar

Wagner has said Duffy is set to play.

Thats a shame, hope you smash em

FFS, our record against criminals this season is not good

We have Barnes out

Given how much he gets slated, surely this is a bonus?

Most leeds fans recognise his qualities, despite he can put in an absolute stinker of a performance now and again. However it should speak volumes that each of our managers we've had since he joined have tried to use him as our main striker. Problem is he is so perennially injured he just can never stay in the team. Its no coincidence our massive unbeaten streak coincided with him staying fit (among other players coming into good form too)

Nah. We play much better when he is available. Terrible at pens and open goals but much better at everything else. Would be much happier if he was available (or Dan James).
