N Ganapathy Subramaniam, Tata Consultancy Services COO, retires – His journey in TCS, salary and other details

TCS COO N Ganapathy Subramaniam retires: N Ganapathy Subramaniam, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) retired by the end of May 19, the IT giant announced in an exchange filing on Sunday.

“…we hereby inform you that the term of office of Mr. N. Ganapathy Subramaniam (DIN: 07006215), Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director (COO & ED) of the Company, ends on May 19, 2024,” TCS said in the exchange filing.

Accordingly, Subramaniam ceases to be COO and ED of the company with effect from May 20, 2024, added TCS in the filing.

N. Ganapathy Subramanian life and education

Born in 1959, N Ganapathy Subramanian, also known as NGS, lives with his wife Shobana and two sons in Bangalore.

NGS joined TCS in 1982 after completing his Masters in Mathematics from the University of Madras and has had the benefit of attending various training programs including the Executive program for growing companies at Stanford University.

An avid reader and keen supporter of community initiatives, NGS enjoys classical music, long walks and Nature.

N Ganapathy Subramanian’s career in Tata Group

He has been a part of TCS and the Indian IT Industry for the past 40 years. NGS was appointed the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TCS in February 2017. He has also served as the Additional Director and Chairman of Tata Elxsi Limited since November 2014 and the Additional Director (Non-Independent; Non-Executive) of Tata Communications Limited since December 2021.

Prior to taking over the COO’s role he served as the Executive Vice President and Head of TCS Financial Solutions, a strategic business unit of TCS. In that role, he was responsible for steering the non-linear growth strategies, Products and Platform businesses of TCS for over five years.

Subramanian held many key leadership roles during his stint in TCS across Client Delivery, Business Development, integration of businesses and Product Development. As head of Banking and Financial Services practice for TCS for close to five years, he was instrumental in consolidating TCS’s knowledge base, calibrating domain centric offerings, creating opportunities and laid the foundation for its verticalization.

He has played a strategic role in several landmark projects that TCS undertook across geographies. He has in-depth knowledge on technology trends and systems policies of leading corporations. As a thought leader, he has spoken in global conferences and actively interacts and shapes opinion among industry analysts.

N Ganapathy Subramanian’s Salary as TCS COO

In its annual report for the financial year 2023, Tata Consultancy Services revealed the remuneration of its executives for the last financial year.

In the financial year 2022-2023, NGS earned a whopping Rs 1.61 crore as salary, Rs 2.49 crore as Benefits, Perquisites and Allowances and another Rs 19.50 crore as Commission. His annual remuneration in FY22 stood at Rs 20.7 crore, which was a 29 per cent jump from his previous compensation of Rs 16 crore.

Subramaniam also owns 1,97,760 equity shares of the IT giant, the annual report had revealed.
