Slash reveals Guns N’ Roses are “trying” to make a new album

Legendary guitarist Slash has revealed that Guns N’ Roses are “trying” to make a new album. The classic rock star wrapped up the European leg of his current tour back in April and will be heading back out onto the road in July.

Slash didn’t appear on Guns N’ Roses’ last album, Chinese Democracy, which was released back in 2008. With Duff McKagan also presently busy with solov entures, a new record from the classic rock outfit seemed highly unlikely, despite a headline slot at Glastonbury Festival in 2023.

When Slash was asked why Axl Rose didn’t feature on his latest solo record, Orgy of the Damned, among a slew of other collaborators, the guitarist told the Daily Star: “It was my own side thing, so I wasn’t dragging my own guys in.”

The top hat sporting rocker continued: “Guns N’ Roses are trying to make their own record and I’m working with them in that capacity but this didn’t involve anyone else.” This perhaps hints that the trio of Rose, McKagan and Slash might be together in the studio again for the first time since 1993.

However, Slash was reticent to provide further details on the matter at present. Nevertheless, in recent interviews he has expressed that getting back together for live shows was a “blast” and that the band managed to put any negativity behind them.

The last new music we had from the band came in the form of the stand-alone releases ‘Perhaps’ and ‘The General’ which were recorded around the time of Chinese Democracy but not released until last year.

Neither of the other members of the band have yet made any public comment on new Guns N’ Roses. Nevertheless, stay tuned for Far Out’s forthcoming interview with Duff McKagan.
