The Boys creator Eric Kripke teases how season 4's new Supes in the Seven will make Homelander more dangerous. Based on the comic book written by Garth Ennis and illustrated by Darick Robertson, Prime Video's satirical superhero series follows the titular team of vigilantes who combat the corrupt superpowered individuals, known derogatorily as "Supes," who make up the premier superhero team, the Seven, led by Homelander. The Boys season 4, which premieres on June 13, will introduce several new Supes into the Seven who will change the hierarchy of power.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kripke teased how The Boys season 4's new Supes, Sister Sage and Firecracker, will make Homelander more dangerous. The showrunner says that "one of Homelander's biggest problems is he's surrounded by idiots," though by introducing Sister Sage, who he describes as "the smartest person in the world," Homelander is about to become "much more dangerous." On the other hand, Kripke describes Firecracker as a far-right figure. Read his full comments below:

It's such a funny power. A lot of superhero worlds have that character. Whereas most of them are usually really reedy white dudes, we wanted a Black woman who was raised in a low socioeconomic area, so no one f---ing listens to her. It's both commentary and satirical that you have literally the smartest person in the world that could cure all of society's ills, but she just can't get anyone to listen to her. So then she becomes a bitter misanthrope.

We've always said one of Homelander's biggest problems is he's surrounded by idiots. Therefore, if you could actually bring in someone who's a tactical genius, that would make Homelander much more dangerous... It turns out, there's always crazier. Firecracker represents both members of the conspiracy-minded movements and the super extreme right-wing news media. That character has some surprising backstory that connects her to some of the characters in our world that it was just interesting to bring in one of those pistol-packing "I shot my puppies' type of characters."

From the supes to those trying to take them down, The Boys season 4 cast brings back the show's popular characters as well as new faces.

The Boys Season 4's New Supes Explained

The Boys season 4 introduces two new Supes – Sister Sage and Firecracker. Both characters are not in the comics, giving the show free rein to invent whatever backstories or powers they please. For the two new Supes, Kripke and his team of writers turned their attention to superhero archetypes they haven't satirized yet on the show. One of those characters became Sister Sage, played by Susan Heyward, who represents the archetype of the world's smartest person.

While a lot of superhero universes include that type of character, they are "usually really reedy white dudes," as Kripke says. Instead, Sister Sage is a black woman "who was raised in a low socioeconomic area, so no one f---ing listens to her." In turn, she becomes a "bitter misanthrope." However, this situation becomes advantageous for Homelander, who is the only one who listens to Sister Sage. Homelander is already arguably the most dangerous Supe following public approval of him killing a protester during The Boys season 3 ending, and he's about to become even more dangerous in season 4.

As for Firecracker, Kripke describes her as an extreme far-right, gun-toting figure who might openly admit to shooting a puppy, alluding to South Dakota governor Kristi Noem who admitted to shooting her dog. Overall, Sister Sage and Firecracker are bad news for the world of The Boys, but good news for Homelander and the strength of the Seven. The full extent of the increased danger that Homelander poses will be seen when The Boys season 4 premieres.

The Boys season 4 premieres on Prime Video with three episodes on June 13.
