John W. Stokes, 86, Campbellsville, KY

 

John W. Stokes, 86, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late John William Stokes Sr. and Ezma Mitchell Stokes was born October 13, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan.  He died at 8:15 A.M., Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in Campbellsville.

 

He served his country honorably in the United States Army. John was a retired master electrician. He was an avid horseman and member of the Hill and Valley Saddle Club. John also enjoyed boating and fishing and was a member of RizpahTemple Shriners.

 

SURVIVORS:

His wife of 31 years: Doris Jean (D.J.) Davis Stokes of Campbellsville

5 step-children: Gene Crabtree & wife Sue, Sharon Force & husband Carlos. Donna Grammer and Lisa Benningfield & husband Barry of Campbellsville, and David Crabtree & wife Phyllis of Elizabethtown

10 step-grandchildren: J.P. Crabtree & wife Annette, Amy Hisle, Chris Force & wife Huki, Matt Force, Amanda Spaw & husband Ricky, Thomas Grammer, Nick Benningfield, Katie Watson & husband Trent, Megan Walls & husband Tanner, and David Crabtree Jr.

Several step-great-grandchildren

1 sister: Charlotte Knott of Owensboro

2 nieces & many other relatives & friends

 

John was preceded in death by one daughter, Julia Stokes.
