LANCASTER, Pa.- The Atlantic East Conference released their baseball postseason awards and All-Conference Teams on Tuesday. Nine Mighty Macs were named to All-Atlantic East Conference teams.
Senior second baseman
Joey Sacco (Hamilton, N.J. / Steinert), and graduate pitcher Steven DiBattista (Clifton Heights, Pa. / Monsignor Bonner) were named to the All-Atlantic East Conference First Team.
Graduate catcher
Josh Crowding (Mickleton, N.J. / Kingsway Regional), senior designated hitter
Jay Lawrence (Ewing, N.J. / Ewing), senior first baseman
Joey Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill East), senior third baseman
Shawn Haut (Newcastle, DE / Hodgson Vo-Tech / Wilmington University), sophomore outfielder
Hunter Weitzel (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton Area), senior pitcher
Jason Hughes (Warminster, Pa. / William Tennent), and freshman outfielder
Nick Turnage (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) were named to the All-Atlantic East Conference Second Team.
Junior pitcher
Joseph Chesnik (Oreland, Pa. / LaSalle College High School) was named the Atlantic East Conference Elite 20 Winner. Modeled after the NCAA Elite 90 Academic Recognition Award Program, The Atlantic East Elite 20 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships.Â
After captaining their third consecutive Atlantic East Conference Championship this past weekend defeating Cabrini 8-6 in the Championship game on Saturday. The Immaculata University baseball team will head to Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va., for NCAA Regionals. The Mighty Macs will open regional play on Friday, May 17
th when they play nationally ranked Christopher Newport University at 10:00 a.m.
