Nikki Glaser absolutely killed it on The Roast of Tom Brady last Sunday night.

Little did she know, however, that after performing on The Greatest Roast of All Time was that her comedy career would blow up even more.

After all, Nikki Glaser has been doing comedy for 20 years and was already a very popular and successful comic prior to the roast. Now though, she’s a household name – at least in homes that love sports.

That’s the power of Tom Brady.

“I knew it would be a big deal, but it feels good, because I worked really, really hard,” Glaser told Vanity Fair in a new interview. “It felt like, Okay, I did an A-plus. Like I got back my test and it’s hanging on the refrigerator for a couple days.”

Gisele Bundchen, reportedly didn’t give Glaser that high of a grade. And then there was that awkward encounter with Tom Brady after the roast.

It might have had something to do with the incredible digs Nikki Glaser got in on both of them.

“You’re the best to ever play… for too long,” she said to Brady during the roast. “I mean, you retired, then you came back, and then you retired again. I get it. It’s hard to walk away from something that’s not your pregnant girlfriend.”

As for upsetting Bundchen with her jokes, Glaser says she was very aware of what she was doing.

“Even saying her name, I tried to maybe say it less than I needed to,” Glaser revealed. “In my final joke about her, I said, ‘ex-wife.’ I tried not to mention her name as much as possible, but he’s a part of her story. … That’s how I rationalize talking about someone who did not ask to be part of this conversation.”

Regardless of whose feelings were hurt (and she didn’t even tell the worst of her jokes), Glaser says her set on the roast was a blessing to her career.

“I will never get this much attention until I die,” she said. “I have an inkling of what it feels like to be Taylor Swift on a really slow day for her.”

Glaser added, “I ascended in my career more than I ever have, overnight. It just doesn’t happen today with how oversaturated the content is — that all eyes are on something like this.

“Outside of Will Smith slapping me, I don’t think I’ll get this much attention as a comedian in my life.”
