Chris Sutton predicts 'cricket score' result for Man Utd vs Arsenal

Confidence is at an all-time low for Manchester United after Monday’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Crystal Palace, now the score against Arsenal is predicted.

For Erik ten Hag, the season cannot end soon enough with two wins in 10 Premier League games meaning Manchester United are unlikely to find any form soon.

This bodes bad news for the FA Cup final in a fortnight against Manchester City, in which Ten Hag will be desperate to win a trophy, but as of right now, the chances of this happening look slim.

But before attention can turn to Wembley, three league fixtures are remaining, all of which are tricky for United.

But first up this weekend, United welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford. Here’s how Chris Sutton has predicted the game going.

Chris Sutton makes a damning prediction for Manchester United this weekend

Writing in his weekly predictions column for BBC Sport, Sutton has issued a damning verdict on what he thinks will happen when the two heavyweights face off on Sunday.

“They were also the best team the Premier League has ever seen but, while they were brilliant then, they are not anymore.

“Their manager Erik ten Hag is off at the end of the season, I’m convinced of that, and Arsenal should wipe the floor with them at Old Trafford.

“The only question is whether the Gunners turn up but even if they are below their best, this could end up being a cricket score.

“I’ve got to say that while I’ve been critical of Bruno Fernandes in regards to the Manchester United captaincy, they missed him badly against Palace.

“They will need Arsenal to not quite be at it but, with what is at stake, I think the opposite will apply. I am expecting the Gunners to win easily.”

Sutton then made a scoreline prediction of 5-1 to Arsenal, one which is tough to argue with after witnessing the struggles last time out.

Erik ten Hag must do something different and prove everyone wrong

It currently looks pretty bleak for the future of Ten Hag at Old Trafford as his side limp toward the end of the season.

Before the run-in, there was a lot of talk that the final few weeks of the campaign would play a deciding factor on whether he’s side manager next season.

If he sends his side out in the same manner he did against Palace, then the result could be unrecoverable for the Dutchman as Arsenal are potentially the league’s best.

A performance like that again could actually see Sutton’s prediction look kind, come Sunday evening. Things have to change and Ten Hag is running out of time.
