Vince Vaughn, who has served as a celebrity pitchman for both Caesars and BetMGM – and who rocketed to fame playing the fast-talking Trent, aka Double Down in Swingers – is once again taking to the world of gambling.

Vaughn, along with Oscar-winner Adrien Brody, will be starring in The Bookie & The Bruiser, according to a Variety report.

The movie, which will be written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, is set in New York, 1959.

Brody plays Rivner, a pensive Jewish man, and Vaughn plays Boscolo, an imposing Italian tough guy. Both Rivner and Boscolo are World War II veterans, and they never regained their old selves after coming home from the war.

The duo hook up to start an illegal bookmaking operation – Rivner the brains, Boscolo the brawn – and the two find themselves making money hand over fist in this risky business.

Things take a turn, however, when the duo find themselves caught between the Italian Mafia and an Irish gang.

The film will start production this autumn.

More gambling movies

It’s been a relative bumper crop of well-received gambling-related movies over the last few years, with The Card Counter, Molly’s Game, and Uncut Gems leading the charge.

Another gambling related film – The Ballad of a Small Player, starring Colin Farrell – is starting production this summer. The film will be directed by Edward Berger, who recently directed All Quiet on the Western Front, which took home four Oscars.

This new movie is based on a 2014 novel of the same name by Lawrence Osborne, and is the story of a high-stakes gambler (and disgraced lawyer) who haunts the casinos of Macau where he meets a woman who might just bring him salvation, according to reports.
