Howland releases official comment on joining the EBC in football only

Howland High School was recently accepted to join the Eastern Buckeye Conference in football only beginning with the 2026 season.
The school, through its athletic department, released the following official comment to mahoningmatters.com on joining the EBC in football.
The statement reads:
“We are honored for the opportunity to contribute to the rich tradition of football, sportsmanship and integrity that embodies the Eastern Buckeye Conference--joining Alliance, Carrollton, Marlington, Minerva, Salem and West Branch in 2026 as a member of the EBC. We see this as an opportunity to enhance the competitive spirit within our community while fostering meaningful experiences for our student-athletes and football program. As we embark on this new chapter, Howland extends its gratitude to the EBC member schools for their warm welcome and we look forward to being a part of the legacy of excellence that defines the EBC.”
