Wonderful interactive exhibition about The Burrens past and present. Covers geological history, flora and fauna, human history, cultural heritage.
Helpful information people, free maps and gleaming restrooms are available. Great gift shop and cafe combined with the exhibits make the stop well worth while.🇮🇪💚💚💚🇮🇪

After checking their own website to confirm opening hours, I went to Kilfenora to discover this place is now closed, in its' entirety, until next spring.

Unfortunately, the late manager of the Centre tragically died in November 2023, which meant that the centre closed for a period of time, and yes, as a small community run business suffering the shock of the loss, during this time the website was not updated. We apologise for your inconvenience.

Very informative displays. I learnt such alot. Video reinforced the displays. Covered culture, music, history as well as geographic info.

Mary, Aileen and Claire you are lovely. Thank you for your support and advice when we landed in Kilfenora with a broken down camper on July 17th. You made a positive impact on our change in plans. Also, the young man in the cafe was kind. When I went in the second morning he said "You're still here. " He showed concern for our situation, which was nice.

Fascinating, colourful and informative displays .
I really learned a lot about the whole geology, history and culture of The Burren- and it's inhabitants, human and natural. Very helpful and welcoming reception desk

Visiting the Exhibition 8€- spent an hour and a half looking at photos and explanations of the karst topography and archeology, towers, flora and fauna- really excellent- answered all the questions that our visit to the Burren had raised- limestone platforms caused by early farmers cutting trees had actually preserved varied species of flora and fauna by rendering it useless for cultivation.

We stopped off here with my partner at the cafe on our last day in Ireland on our drive to the airport hoping for some brunch. Both the service and the food were abominable. It was our worst food experience in Ireland..and we were not being fussy. It was so bad that it was actually funny and we had a laugh of it in the end. Our outmilk coffee was horribly bitter and curdled. They were kind enough to replace it for us with an identically curdled coffee, explaining that it was perfectly good to begin with.
We ordered poached eggs on toast and as we are vegetarian I requested the beans and tomatoes from the Irish breakfast menu to be added to my veggie dish. The poached eggs were as hard is if they were sitting in hot water for 10 minutes sitting in the middle of the cheapest slice of factory produced white toast, with a teaspoon of beans and 1 grilled cherry tomato.
The chips however, were good, hence the well deserved 1 star review.
spare yourselves such a disappointment in future. Go find somewhere nice to eat. There are plenty of beautiful dining places in Ireland and we are writing to say this was the worst we could possibly imagine.

I learned so much about the flora, fauna, formations and history of the Burren area at this center. (Yes, it's a bit dated, like many historical exhibitions. One might also call the American Museum of Natural History in New York City dated. That doesn't detract from what you can learn there.) I loved all the life-size dioramas and installations. Seeing the different wildlife in the area was of special interest to me, while others in my group especially liked the music history and pub room area.

It was a great stop on a rainy day. The brief film giving some history of The Burren was informative and well done, as was the walk-through exhibit. Some gifts but not a lot. Tea and scones in the cafe' were good. Nearby High Crosses are amazing.

The best thing about our visit was knowing that we supported the local economy. The exhibition room could do with updating (my 10 year old was terrified by the shark exhibit so we had to leave quickly). Maybe best suited to school tours.
