This program is ONLINE only.  Join us when we discuss this short story by Don Delillo,   "Human Moments in World War III."  An astronaut and his companion orbit the earth while a non-nuclear WWIII rages down below.  The narrator realizes that war has replaced everyday life and eliminated the space for human moments.   Click the title above to read the story.  On the day of the program, a link to join the discussion will be sent to you.

Don DeLillo (born November 20, 1936) is an American novelist, short story writer, playwright, screenwriter and essayist.  He grew up in a large family in the Italian-American section of the Bronx known as Belmont.  (The family bakery still survives there on E. 187th St.)   As a teenager, DeLillo was not interested in writing until he took a summer job as a parking attendant, where the hours spent waiting and watching over vehicles led to a lifelong reading habit.  His major influences are Flannery O'Connor, William Faulkner and James Joyce.
