Being asked to go collect item (no personal info)

DISCUSSION

How do people feel about receiving this question? Seller shipped quickly which is appreciated but I didn’t ask for it or anything. Item arrived on the 15th and I was going to go collect today as I had another parcel due and I didn’t want to go twice.

I can’t decide how I feel about it - I replied to tell the seller I’ll be picking it up today

I don’t mind if they don’t pick it up on time. What I hate is if they don’t hit everything is ok and you need to wait the 2 days for it to be done automatically.

Totally agree, this really annoys me esp when they want it posted out ASAP and can’t confirm everything is okay

I mean... no strong feelings? it's been two days and depending on carrier parcels may be returned to sender if left there a while.

I ignore them. As far as I'm concerned, as a buyer AND seller, is that as long as they meet Vinted T&Cs I don't care. It only annoys me when they fail to collect completely, but you can just turn that setting off if you don't want people going to parcel shops.

The way I see it is that as a seller, you get paid within 2 days (I don't use RM). If they click it sooner, that's a bonus. I don't care when they collect from a parcel shop so I leave mine turned on. As a seller I usually ship within 1-2 days but that's because I'll forget if I leave it longer.

As a buyer, Vinted spams me so much with emails and notifications, I absolutely do not want the seller joining in sending messages like this too. I haven't collected it because I haven't gone to the parcel shop yet - not from lack of emails.

That’s sort of my approach to things as a buyer & a seller. As you say, vinted keeps you on track anyway but I appreciate everyone has different approaches

Is it Inpost? If theyre messaging you 2 days after its been ready to collect, could be they are worried about Inpost returning to sender which they do after 3 days!!

As a seller and a buyer I think it’s rude tbh. People post on here all the time about how buyers shouldn’t expect fast shipping. I think it goes in the opposite direction too. It’s not like you’ve left it for a week.

Feeling all guilty now - the order was packaged beautifully and the seller included a little bag of sweets as a thank you so I hit everything okay ASAP. The item doesn’t actually fit unfortunately (big thighs problems) but they’ll be getting a five star review for sure

Straight to the point no kisses or emojis therefore nothing to be annoyed about imo.

If I was the buyer I'd have already messaged to say I'd be collecting on Friday once I received notification that it'd been dropped off

I think it’s a little much when it’s on the day and I’m a buyer and seller. Sometimes people genuinely can’t collect or mark as received straight away because they are away etc. other times it’s because they have multiple items on the way and they are collecting them in one go. If that is the case, it would be nice for the buyer to communicate that, but it’s not a big deal I guess.

As a seller, I would only leave this message for when it is actually coming up to their last chance to collect, just in case they had forgotten or something. I do feel that it is a bit mean for buyers to take days to collect (or not collect at all) knowing full well that they are holding the sellers item and funds hostage though, but at the same time, sellers can turn the locker options of if it becomes a problem for them.

When I’m not picking up straight away I always message. I missed a parcel before I went on holiday so it stayed at the shop for 8 days before I could collect. 😬

i completely understand this request from a seller because when someone buys from me and they have received/ collected the parcel but can’t be bothered to press one button so my payment goes through it’s SO annoying. not that hard to confirm you picked up the parcel imo

I get that - in this case I hadn’t picked up so nothing to confirm. I always confirmed pick up as soon as I’ve done it

recently a seller leave me one star just cause I took 5 days to collect it, after he hit me up desesperately everyday to pick it up. He even lied on the review lmao

If someone was that pushy I would collect on the last day if I could. Sometimes I have to drive for a collection point because one collection point is in another city were I come weekly on one specific day. If it’s delivered just the day after I don’t go there as soon as next week. Same for dropping of.

You get those days so you should wait patiently, in my opinion. As seller and as buyer. I can imagine you want the money but people have lives, jobs etc.

I’ve just seen their post asking if it’s rude

Who’s post?

In here, someone posted “is it rude to ask them to Collect” and they explained it was sat waiting to be collected which meant the money was sitting waiting.

Are you talking about the inpost one that had been sat for 10 days? That’s not my situation so I don’t think it’s the same seller

Ahh I must have connected it as I literally saw it just before yours xx

I’d leave it the full amount of time to collect. I’m guessing they desperate for money. When you do collect see if they message you to say is everything ok can you click everything is ok

Well it’s just being petty leaving something for days before collecting them waiting to mark as ok

Well they shouldn’t harass you as soon as the notification comes up. Yes im well aware i have to collect it. If you can’t wait then thats a you problem not a me problem

You’re the problem.

Sometimes people actually forget that they need to go get it. I once had an order to collect from a shop and planned to collect it on a the day when I got a notification that it had arrived but I wasn't able to make it that day and then I just straight up forgot about it. If the shop hadn't emailed me a couple days later with a message saying hey don't forget to collect your order idk if I'd have remembered it. I think if they are just politely reminding you and they aren't being demanding or rude or condescending then it's totally fine for them to send a reminder after it's been a couple days. If it's an item the buyer actually wanted and they'd just simply forgotten and the parcel was returned to the sender then both of them would be inconvenienced and a quick message could potentially prevent that.

I've heard so many horror stories from vinted but I promise there are nice people out there who actually want to be helpful and aren't only doing things for their own gain.

I ordered a bundle and one for the items arrived totally smashed despite being really well packaged by the seller and she kindly attempted to refund me for that one item but vinted refunded the full bundle cost and when I started communicating with her about how I can get the extra refunded money back to her she was actually shocked that I wanted to give back the money I was wrongly refunded. Together we worked out the price for the individual item and took that off the amount I was refunded, she set up a new listing just for me with the amount minus the buyer protection and shipping so that she took the loss on that instead of me which was really nice of her and we both learnt a lesson on how partial refunds don't work on vinted.
