Dottie McPherson

(From Hermitage Funeral Home)

Dorothy Kathryn McPherson, 95, lovingly known as "Ms. Dottie," was born May 10, 1928, in Bentonville, Arkansas, to Ardella Juanita King. She departed this life on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 12:05 pm at her residence in Hermitage, TN.

Dorothy was a native of Joplin, MO, and had lived in Hermitage, TN, for 20 years.

She was educated in Joplin, Missouri, where she graduated from Lincoln High School and the Joplin LPN School of Nursing. After thirty-one years of service as a nurse in Missouri, she retired.

Ms. Dottie's love extended beyond her community and faith. She was a devoted mother to three children: James Cornel Gant, Isaiah Skip Gant and his wife Rawan, and Mary Kathryn Jackson. Her role as a grandmother to five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren brought her immense joy and fulfillment.

Ms. Dottie's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to her community. She was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Joplin MO for several years. In 2005, in Frederick, Maryland, she rededicated and fully surrendered her life to the Lord.

Relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, in the same year, she joined The River Church, now known as Generation Changers Church. Ms. Dottie served as Prayer Pastor, led weekly Prayer Life Groups, and was known for visiting and praying for the sick in the hospitals.

Her selfless service and dedication were evident in the countless hours she gave to various areas of church ministry. Her passion was to encourage and support those desiring to know God, his love, and to live in his fullness. Her anchor was Psalm 23.

Ms. McPherson was preceded in death by her mother, Ardella King, and her husband, Jack McPherson.

She was a faithful servant leader who was always willing to help and pray for others.

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Ms. Dottie on Saturday May 18th at 2:00 pm at Generation Changers Church 224 Stewarts Ferry Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
