WOODSTOCK, Conn. (WPRI) — Police said a standoff with armed burglary suspects who have barricaded themselves inside a Woodstock home ended early Thursday morning.

Connecticut State Police Sgt. Luke Davis said officers were called to the Woodstock Road home Wednesday morning following reports of a burglary in progress.

Davis said a witness told the officers several suspects entered the residence with what appeared to be baseball bats. It’s unclear whether those suspects also have firearms, but Davis said officers are taking all necessary precautions.

The woman who lives there was able to escape safely and one of the suspects has surrendered, according to Davis.

Davis said there are “still lots of things to be sorted out,” including why the suspects targeted this home specifically.

Woodstock is located roughly 30 minutes away from the Rhode Island border.
