Caitlin Clark has had a busy schedule in the first half of 2024. From the NCAA Tournament Final Four to the 2024 WNBA Draft to training camps with the Indiana Fever, Clark didn't even have time to attend her graduation. Although, the guard herself said that perhaps that was not a bad thing.

Clark majored in marketing at Iowa University, and she should have received her diploma at the graduation ceremony this past weekend. However, her commitment to the Fever did not allow her to attend the ceremony.

As a sign of her camaraderie, her Indiana teammates offered her a ceremony and gave her an unofficial graduation diploma this past Monday at the end of team practices. After the emotional moment, the Fever rookie told reporters that she was actually lucky to have missed the official ceremony at the university's facilities.

Is Clark glad she didn't attend the ceremony?

Although the graduation ceremony is a moment that almost every student looks forward to, this is not the case for Clark, although not for the reasons you might think.

In a video shared by Matthew Byrne on X, formerly Twitter, Clark jokingly stated, "Honestly, I was kinda glad to not have to go-Carver-Hawkeye Arena doesn't have any air conditioning, so it gets like really hot with all those people in there in the spring and summer."

To the laughter of reporters, Clark assured that, in the end, missing the ceremony "was fine for me" and indicated that she would later share her diploma with her parents in private.

The Fever calendar

Indiana and Clark will have a difficult start to the regular season. After visiting the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, they will have two consecutive games against the New York Liberty, on Thursday at home at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and on Saturday visiting the Barclays Center.

The Fever had mixed results in the preseason, with a 76-79 loss to the Dallas Wings and an 83-80 win over the Atlanta Dream. Caitlin participated in both games. Her performances were modest but within the learning curve that is expected from a rookie.
