A Cuban family residing in a mobile home park in Miami Gardens fell victim to a fire that caused severe damage to their home, though fortunately, there were no injuries. Around five o'clock in the morning on Saturday, Pedro Fresnedo, his wife who is three months pregnant, and their four-year-old daughter were awakened by the news that a fire was threatening their home.

The fire, which erupted in a mobile home park located at 19900 NW 37th Avenue, allegedly began in an unoccupied house adjacent to where the Cuban-origin family lived. Firefighters were delayed in arriving as they had to cut through the main entrance of the mobile home park with a saw, as reported by Telemundo 51.

Pedro Fresnedo described the panic upon seeing the flames near his home. The quick spread of the fire threatened the safety of his three-month pregnant wife and four-year-old daughter. Fresnedo explained that his car exploded and fragments of the vehicle struck the door of the house. "I was throwing water at the door to prevent the worst until the car exploded and that was it," he detailed.

Fresnedo also mentioned that he lacked insurance, complicating the recovery of the property. "It was the house next door, it's not our fault. They say we have to bear the costs," he lamented. Images published by the media outlet reveal the extent of damage to the dwelling.

The family is hopeful that despite everything, the property manager will assist them as they recover from this unexpected setback. They are requesting at least two months of free rent to help them get back on their feet. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

It is not the first time in recent days that a Cuban family in South Florida has been affected by a fire. Recently, a Cuban truck driver was hailed as a “hero” for preventing a potential tragedy at a Miami-Dade gas station. The trucker was refueling his diesel semi-truck at around 3 AM last Thursday when he noticed smoke. He quickly drove the truck away from the gas station as flames spread within the vehicle. Surveillance camera footage showed how he drove to a deserted area and jumped out. Unfortunately, the truck was his own and the livelihood of his family.
