Sunrisers Hyderabad need a win to guarantee a berth in the playoffs, but they have something bigger to aim for: they will try to maximise their net run rate to ensure they finish ahead of Rajasthan Royals and face the Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 1.

Since their contingency is not dependent on English cricketers, SRH have a full squad at their disposal. If they bat first, they will replace one of their specialist batters (they usually replace an opener) with a fast bowler – Bhuvneshwar, Unadkat, or Umran. If they field, they are likely to go the other way round.

Gujarat Titans are out of the race. With Saha back, there may be temptation to open with him, leave out Matthew Wade, and recall Omarzai to add balance to the XI. However, that will mean splitting the Gill-Sai Sudharsan duo that has worked well for GT. Perhaps Saha may bat at three.
