A popular Dublin restaurant was named the home of the best pizza in Ireland for second year running.

A popular Dublin restaurant was named the home of the best pizza in Ireland for the second year running at a prestigious Pizza Europa Awards ceremony in Madrid last week.

Little Pyg, known for its creative ‘Pygtails’ and Michelin-quality pizzas, is loved among locals looking for a unique and lively dining experience in the city.

The restaurant was also named number 15 overall in Europe at the awards. Thus, ranking alongside popular Italian eateries to sit among the very best pizzerias in Europe.

Set right in the heart of the city in the famous Powerscourt Townhouse, Little Pyg is a popular spot for people from all across Dublin and further afield looking to enjoy a fun night out with friends.

The winners are chosen after 2,000 travel inspectors travel all across the continent in search of the best Italian food that Europe has to offer.

Highlighting the quality of Ireland’s dining scene, it’s great to see a restaurant in the city rank among the top 50 for the second time.

Pygmalion was the only Irish restaurant to make the top 50 for the second time. So, the beloved Dublin restaurant was officially named the home of the best pizza in Ireland.

Receiving the award, Pygmalion owner Paul McGlade Jnr said, “To win number one in Ireland for the second year running at this huge globally respected event is a tremendous honour.

“It is great recognition for the Irish food scene globally. It’s down to the dedication of our team that work so hard to create the best pizzas in Ireland, every day.”

Highlighting the role of the whole team in helping the Dublin restaurant become the home of the best pizza in Ireland for the second time, Paul emphasized how everyone really had an important role to play.

He added, “Winning this Best in Ireland award, judged by some of Italy’s top food critics, means so much to us. To be the only Irish restaurant to make it into the top 50 two years in a row makes us so proud.”

The chefs go to great lengths to offer authentic Italian flavours in their freshly made pizzas. Thus, earning the Dublin restaurant the title of best pizza in Ireland for the second year running.

McGlade explained, “We import the best, fresh produce from Italy every week and are very passionate about what we do.

“Each pizza base is left to ferment for 48 hours before being put into our pizza oven, made from the rock of Mount Vesuvius.”

He added that the whole team are “passionate about bringing an authentic taste of Italy to Irish customers”. This is something that shines through in their popularity and numerous award wins.
