Kédougou, May 17 (APS) – The prefect of Kédougou (south-east), El hadj Malick Sémou Diouf, proceeded on Friday to the official launch of the thirteenth Tripartite Week, bringing together young people from , Mali and Guinea around cultural, artistic, sporting activities and dialogue between peoples, noted the APS.

The Tripartite Week, the first edition of which took place in May 1980 in Kédougou, aims to strengthen integration between the three countries of the sub-region.

”It is a great pleasure to be among you for the official launch of the activities of the tripartite week. I welcome all the sporting and cultural delegations, particularly those from Mali, Guinea Conakry and Kéniaba from Mali,” declared the prefect of Kédougou.

The fourth deputy mayor of Kédougou, Demba Ngima Doucouré, the president of the executive office of Kédougou (BET), Moussa Yéro Dansokho, took part in the opening ceremony of this 13th edition.

El Hadj Malick Sémou Diouf welcomed this event as “a great meeting of sharing, exchange and strengthening of ties between the three countries of the sub-region”.

“For a week Kédougou will vibrate to the rhythm of the cultural values ​​shared by the States of Mali, Guinea Conakry and Senegal after a long break,” he explained

The Tripartite Week appears to be a preferred means of strengthening security relations between these three states, according to the administrative authority.

He stressed that this event is being held “in a context that we all know, mainly marked by the attacks of the terrorist threat and other attacks of this kind”.

The president of the Executive Bureau of the tripartite week (BET) recalled the history of the first tripartite week which took place in May 1980 in Kédougou.

”This is how the constitutive congress of the tripartite week was held in Kédougou on September 7 and 8, 1979, in the presence of delegates from Kéniaba and Guinea Conakry. This congress set up the organs and adopted a tripartite charter before taking the resolution to designate Kédougou the venue for the first tripartite week,” he said.

He invited the local authorities of the Kédougou region and the State of Senegal to support funding for the organization of the tripartite week and to facilitate the holding of meetings between the different cities in the sub-region.
