Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has won the award for the young player of the year in the Premier League for the 2023–24 season.

Cole Palmer beats Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Kobbie Mainoo, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Alexander Isak, and Destiny Udogie to the award.

This award came after his stellar performances in his first season at Chelsea. Palmer is the first Chelsea player to have ever received the award since it was first given to Eden Hazard in the 2013-14 season.

Palmer left Manchester City due to a lack of playing time to join Chelsea for a fee worth £42.5 million in the summer.

Since joining the club, Palmer has scored 22 goals and created 10 assists in 33 appearances for the London club this season. Palmer matched Drogba and Frank Lampard’s records of scoring 16 goals at home in the Premier League.

Palmer is chasing his former teammate, Erling Haaland, in the race for the Golden Boot. The Manchester City striker, Haaland, has scored 27 goals in the Premier League this season.

In recent weeks, Palmer’s goal-scoring ability has failed to slow down with the midfielder scoring a beautiful header against Brighton in the Premier League.

Palmer has been the shining light in the Chelsea squad. His performances towards the end of the season are likely to help Chelsea secure a European spot ahead of next season.

The player is focused on helping his team win the last game of the season against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Former Chelsea players who had won the Young Player of the Year

Parker won the award in the 2003–04 season while at Chelsea. Eden Hazard won the award in the 2013–14 season as a Chelsea player.
