Ireland is an amazing country with some of the most incredible landscapes to explore. It’s a popular travel destination due to the wonderful countryside, the quaint towns and villages, and the unique traditions and cultures. County Mayo is a region on the west coast and is an ideal place to head to for your next trip. Here are just a few reasons why.

The Coastline

The wild, rugged coastline in this lovely county is one of its best features. Jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean, there are endless beaches, bays, and cliffs to enjoy. From these points, there are lots of islands dotted around which means the views out to sea are even more interesting and captivating. 

The Towns

As well as the stunning natural scenery, this charming county has many exciting towns and villages to explore. Based along the Carrowbeg River, the bustling streets of Westport are perfect to wander through. Ballina is another popular destination and has wonderful rivers and mountains all around it, as well as a vibrant town center.

The Mountains

Ireland has lots of fantastic mountain ranges and County Mayo has some stunning offerings. Mweelrea is the highest in the area at 814 meters and is located right by the sea, so it’s an incredible site to see. Croagh Patrick is popular with hikers and is known for being a pilgrimage destination.
