DC and its Kryptonians are now set to rule over two summers in a row. James Gunn’s Superman is currently filming aimed at a July 11, 2025 release, and it’ll now be joined the following year when Supergirl: World of Tomorrow comes to theaters June 26, 2026.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (Cruella), House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock plays the title role. Warner Bros. announced the date Tuesday along with several other upcoming films. Those include:

  • Drew Hancock’s Companion on January 10, 2025
  • Zach Cregger’s Weapons on January 16, 2026
  • The animated Margie Claus on November 5, 2027

There’s also a New Line horror film on March 27, 2026; a family event film on December 18, 2026; a New Line movie on December 25, 2026; and a Warner Bros Pictures Animation/Locksmith film on March 26, 2027. Deadline reported the news.

The big one though, of course, is Supergirl as it’s now the second DC film officially dated from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. It’s an adaptation of Tom King’s 2022 series of the same name.

When Gunn and Safran announced the film back in 2023, it was described as follows: “Superman was sent to Earth and he was raised by incredibly loving parents, whereas Carol was in a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet and lived there for the first 14 years of her life,” Gunn said. “[It was] a horrible situation where she watched everybody around her die. And so she’s a much harsher and more fucked-up Supergirl.”

Rumor is that the character will make her on screen debut in Gunn’s film which is now filming. Hopefully we’ll learn more about all of these at Comic-Con in July.
