New playthrough as House of Hwicce! (1066)

r/crusaderkings3 - New playthrough as House of Hwicce! (1066)

I am using the Bookmarks+ mod as always. I started after William's conquest of England, because I want to see if my dynasty will be able to take the crown from -his- dynasty one day. My spouse is of the House of Wessex, which will give my line some royal legitimacy. If possible I will have my heir marry a member of the House of Godwin. If not? Then hopefully this will work well enough! I start out with the Anglo Norse culture which is interesting! I know parts of England were culturally influenced by Danes by that time.

Arbitrary gigachad ftw. Underrated trait, and yet fitting for how most people play the game

If you murder your brother at game start to inherit Mercia than declare independence on Harold quickly you have enough land to form a separate Northumbrian kingdom and preserve Anglo-Saxon culture while the south turns English. I enjoy doing that as an RP I’ve done it twice.

I actually just started my own Hwicce playthru!

I’m not using any mods, so I manually picked Morcar at the start of the conquest. I stayed out of the wars, but my brother was killed by the Norwegian invaders, putting me as the duke of more than half of England. I took William’s daughter as my wife after legitimizing our bastard son, and then betrothed said son and heir to the eldest daughter of the French crown prince.

After William died, I claimed the throne from my brother-in-law Robert and then marched my armies on London. House Hwicce will forever be known as the ones who reclaimed England for the Anglo-Saxons and re-established the Witenagemot. We don’t need any Norman pretenders.

Oddly enough, one of the Normans somehow inherited the Kingdom of Pomerania and I wound up having to go to war with them again to reclaim Cornwall.

I married one of William's daughter and then went ahead with the murder spree. Almost wiped out the Normandie dynasty except another daughter who married matrineally which I let her live. Now my son is the current King of England.
