Queen Mary and King Frederik's public plans for their 20th wedding anniversary

King Frederik and Queen Mary celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary on May 14 and much to the delight of royal followers, the Danish royals will out and about that day as they begin a two-day visit of Norway.

Frederik, 55, and Mary, 52, will that day travel on the Royal Ship Dannebrog to Oslo.

They will meet with King Harald V and Queen Sonja as well as Norway's future king, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

The Danish royals will meet meet the Norwegian royals at the palace before attending a wreath-laying ceremony commemorating victims of World War II. That evening the pair will attend a state banquet.

The families share a close relationship, with King Frederik acting as Crown Prince Haakon's best man at his wedding to Crown Princess Mette-Marit in 2001.

Crown Prince Haakon is godfather to Frederik and Mary's eldest child, Crown Prince Christian, 18.

This is the couple's second state visit since Frederik ascended the Danish throne in January following the abdication of his mother, Queen Margrethe.

Frederik and Mary travelled to Sweden earlier this month and next month they will visit the Faroe Islands which are now part of Denmark.

The visits form part of the Danish royal's summer travels aboard the royal ship.

Upon their arrival in Stockholm the couple where they were welcomed by Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel.

After sailing on a gilded Swedish royal barge to the Royal Palace, they met King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia.

They have also attended a Gala dinner hosted by King Carl and Queen Silvia.

King Frederik and Queen Mary were married at Copenhagen Cathedral in 2004 after meeting at the Slip Inn in Sydney during the 2000 Olympics.

While Frederik and Mary are in for a busy two days, they are expected to take time out to mark the milestone in private.
