This rare BRM Lotus Elan is a Lustreen Green driving machine

Finished in BRM racing colours, this extremely rare tuned Lotus Elan available with Classic Motor Hub is now looking for a new home.

It speaks volumes of Lotus-founder Colin Chapman’s lightweight philosophy that more than 60 years after the Lotus Elan was first introduced, it still stands among the greatest sports cars ever made. However, not all Elans were created equal, and a mere 10 or so cars were breathed on by British Racing Motors. Now this pristine example of a BRM Elan is available for sale with Classic Motor Hub

Powered by a 1.6-litre BRM-tuned twin cam engine pushing out 130hp, this Elan was quickly to put work when new by its first owner, RJ Hayhurst, a keen racer who entered his Lotus into numerous events around the north of England. Eventually, in 1987, he sold the car to his nephew, who unfortunately left the car to slowly wither away in storage until 2010, when it was bought by its current custodian who embarked on a full restoration.

Rebuilt by Lotus specialists Ken and Neil Myers with the aim of keeping the car as original as possible, they even went so far as to commission Alan Rigarisford for the respray. Amazingly, Mr. Rigarisford was the man in charge of the Mike Spence Ltd paint shop in 1967 and would have painted the Elan when it was new! Now finished in the BRM F1 team’s iconic colours of Lustreen Green with Dayglo Orange bumpers, this Elan is more than ready to hit the track yet again. Boasting an exceptional history file that includes the book of service vouchers, the owner’s handbook, and period documents from Mike Spence Ltd, this is your chance to get behind the wheel of a true must-drive for any car enthusiast.
