Austin Rivers’ unapologetic commentary on the NFL vs NBA has created much stir across social media. The impact has stirred the football community and now former defensive end, Chris Long< takes up the mic to share some of his thoughts backing his view with proper numbers. Instead of just spitting facts, Tom Brady’s former teammate, Long invited Rivers for an open “challenge”.

To ensure that his analysis does not come out as vague, he did come up with a brutal observation. Loyd is not alone as he loads members in his team that includes former and current players like JJ Watt and Randy Moss and legends like Shannon Sharpe.

On the Pat McAfee Show, Rivers who is now an ESPN NBA analyst did take a dig at the NFL players. He came up with his desperate statement, “I can take 30 players right now in the NBA and throw them in the NFL. You cannot take 30 NFL players and put them in the NBA…That’s cause you get a break every play…All you gotta do is catch the ball and run north or south. It ain’t complex.” Banking on this point, Long tried to establish his analysis.

Instead of dismissing Rivers’ evaluation, Long did agree to some part of it as he claimed, “There have been college basketball players who have come to play football”. However, he further substantiated his point with, “It just doesn’t happen at a high enough click to think it’s automatic is all I’m saying. And 30s, 30 that’s a lot of guys dude it is. I challenge you to find 30 guys I could find five to seven”. Like Long, there are others belonging to the NFL community who refused to let Rivers go without an attack.

The squad that goes opposite to Rivers’ notion

James Jones, Super Bowl XLV champ who is now an analyst has recently registered his name to the long list of Rivers’ critics. Without mincing any words, the former Minnesota Timberwolves guard came up with an unabashed take on FS1’s Speak. He said, “Austin Rivers, if you stepped on the field, homeboy, you wouldn’t make it. We know that right now because you barely made it in the NBA.”

Re-sharing NBA Central’s post, Watt openly called out Rivers on X. He gifted the NBA free agent with a pushback and sarcastically commented, “You don’t got a job in either right now, go head and try it.” On the other hand, Sharpe tried his best to put an end to this debate as his comment read, “No further comments at this time.”

Not only from the NFL, big names from the NBA like legend Charles Barkley too deviated from Rivers’ POV. Calling football “a grown-man sport” while basketball players are “soft” he came up with his stamp of approval on how the players swap is a bad idea. It is now to be seen what more points Rivers comes up with to prove the supremacy of his point.
