LANCASTER, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins swept the major awards to lead the 2024 All-Centennial Women's Tennis Team. Mary Beth Hurley repeated as Player of the Year, Sophie Kim claimed Rookie of the Year and the Hopkins coaching staff was tabbed Coaching Staff of the Year.
Hurley repeated as Player of the Year, becoming the eighth player in Centennial history to receive the conference's top honor multiple times. It marks the sixth straight season that a Blue Jays has secured Player of the Year accolades. Hurley has compiled a 13-6 overall singles mark from the No. 1 position with a 5-0 record in conference play.
Kim was selected as Rookie of the Year, becoming the second straight and sixth overall Blue Jays to receive the award in its 11-year history. Kim owns a 12-4 overall singles record and a 5-0 CC mark playing anywhere from the No. 1 through 4 positions in the lineup. Kim is also 15-10 in doubles with a 4-1 mark in CC play.
JHU head coach Dan Pollock and assistant Kevin Murphy secured Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the second year in a row. The Blue Jays claimed their 17th straight CC title and hold an 18-4 overall record along with another perfect 9-0 mark against conference opponents.
The all-star squad consists of 11 players that captured All-Centennial recognition for at least the second time in their careers. The Haverford trio of Abbey Russano, Ellie Esterowitz and Mimi Lavin each became three-time all-stars, while Swarthmore's Kathleen Shiffer, Erica Stutz, Spencer Watts and Oviya Kumaran, JHU's Hurley and Jay Xiao, Bryn Mawr's Fernanda Hurtado Mariscal and Gettysburg's Andrea Brazyte each became two-time honorees.
Hopkins placed a conference-best eight players on the All-CC squad, followed by Swarthmore (6), Haverford (3), Gettysburg (3), Bryn Mawr (2), Franklin & Marshall (1) and Ursinus (1).
