Job Description

About WorkforClimate

WorkforClimate is a global Sunrise Project program, an initiative focused on building the climate movement inside the corporate sector, and helping employees drive ambitious climate action in the workplace.

Practically, we are building a community of climate champions (we call them climate intrapreneurs) and growing their ability to influence corporate climate action through community engagement activities, learning content and training programs like our online Academy

We believe that how we get there is the destination, and we try to live by that principle in our ways of working, as well as through the content, courses and community we are building.

About the role

The Head of Growth is not your typical marketing role; we are optimising for impact, not profit. We exist to transform corporations from the inside, and we do that by engaging, educating and organising employees. The key levers for driving this impact are the WorkforClimate Learning Community and Academy.

The Head of Growth is responsible for leading our Growth and Marketing strategy, for maintaining a holistic view of the whole customer journey – a full-funnel approach – and will be collaborating closely with the other core functions to grow our audience and community.

This role is responsible for leading all marketing-related production and distribution, plus managing relationships and workflow with our extended team of consultants and our communications agency partner. The role does not currently have any direct reports, but is likely to in the future.

The Head of Growth is responsible for developing campaign activity plans, then managing resources and budgets to deliver accordingly. Given we are a small team, the role is also very hands-on and will also require you to roll up your sleeves and deliver the nuts and bolts of day-to-day implementation.

The role is remote-first, with a preference for someone based in Australia. We’re open to part time and flexible work arrangements.

About you: Skills, knowledge & experience

You’re someone who brings a potent combination of knowledge (head), skills (hands) and passion (heart) to this work:

Head

  • Growth instinct: You have a proven ability to direct and refine what other functions are doing (Content team, PR, Course designers etc) and strategically integrate and amplify that across the marketing funnel. You are prepared to work within an entrepreneurial, start-up environment inside a small but ambitious team.

  • Strategic thinker: You possess a sharp analytical mind capable of devising innovative strategies to expand our reach and impact. Your decisions are data-driven, and you're adept at navigating complex problems to find sustainable solutions.

  • Multi-channel mindset: You can engage with corporate employees at every stage of their journey across paid, owned, earned and shared distribution channels.

Hands

  • Effective implementer: You're not just a thinker but a doer. You have a proven ability to translate strategic plans into actionable steps and are as comfortable rolling your sleeves up to set up a digital campaign as you are at developing the plan and directing team members, contractors and freelancers.

  • Strong general marketing skills: Your experience encompasses brand awareness, user acquisition, conversion and retention. You’ll be able to define the single metric that matters for our campaigns, and optimise towards successful growth.

Heart

  • Passionate advocate: You're motivated by a genuine desire to make a difference in the world and combat climate change, and you’re committed to applying your skills and experience to solving a complex, wicked problem. You bring a demonstrated commitment to WorkforClimate’s mission and values and to the pursuit of equity and justice in your work.

  • Empathetic collaborator: You understand that meaningful change comes from working together. You value diversity and inclusivity, and you're skilled at building relationships and fostering a positive, supportive team culture.

  • Resilient and adaptive: In the face of challenges, you remain optimistic and focused. You're capable of navigating uncertainty with grace and adapt your strategies as needed to ensure the team's goals are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing campaigns to reach new audiences at the top of the funnel (measured in database subscriber growth over time)

  • Distributing and amplifying our content to engage and inspire our audience to join our community platform (measured through community member growth over time)

  • Amplifying success stories from our community members, leveraging brand affinity and nurturing our database in order to drive Academy course conversions for educating members (measured by growth in Academy course completion rates over time)

  • Activating community members to provide feedback, reviews and establish a referral program to leverage our Community and Academy alumni networks (measured by the successful implementation of referral system)

Job requirements

  • You must have full working rights for Australia.  The Sunrise Project Australia Limited  is unable to sponsor applicants for employment visas

  • Previous employment reference checks will be required for successful applicants

  • You must be available to attend occasional, local in-person events

  • Intermittent travel domestically with advanced notice may be required

  • COVID-19 vaccinations may apply in accordance with local legislation and/or Sunrise Project policy

  • Flexibility to adjust work hours to accommodate multiple time zones (with time-off in-lieu for out-of-hours work)
