Rajkummar Rao’s Srikanth is faring well at the box office. The film has made Rs 22.53 crore in nine days since its release. As per a press release shared by the makers, the film minted Rs 2.25 crore on its second Saturday. It recorded an 18.20 per cent Hindi occupancy on the day.

For the film, Chennai recorded the highest occupancy for Hindi shows, followed by cities like Bangalore and Pune.

Apart from Rajkummar, the film also features Jyothika, Sharad Kelkar and Alaya F in pivotal roles. It is directed by Tushar Hiranandani.

Srikanth is a biopic of entrepreneur Srikanth Bolla, who despite being visually-impaired, founded Bollant industries, a recycled paper packaging company. Prominent people like former president APJ Abdul Kalam and industrialist Ratan Tata also invested in his vision.

Our review of the film read: “I didn’t quite get what Srikanth was trying to get at. Its sermons of ‘empathy not sympathy’ felt hollow since the film couldn’t go beyond Srikanth’s disability. It felt rushed, trying to squeeze in the lifetime of a person in two hours, hoping it would present a vivid image of his personality. It took itself too seriously but was trying not to.”
