Written by Cynthia Erivo, Remember to dream, Ebere celebrates big dreams and big imaginations, and the families who help foster them. The Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award winning author reads her debut picture book in this Storyline Online video from the SAG AFTRA Foundation.
“When Ebereβs mother puts her to bed at night, she always says, ‘Remember to dream, Ebere.’ And dream, Ebere does! Encouraged by her mother to make her dreams as big as possible, Ebere imagines herself as the captain of a rocket ship with the ability to go anywhere in the universe.”
Restless sleeper Ebere and her astute and supportive mother are illustrated by Charnelle Pinkney Barlow. Erivo finishes the video with a personal message:
“Ebere is a gift from me, a self-professed dreamer, to you. You, whose imagination deserves to fly and soar. You, who should be taught to dream dreams bigger than you can contain. This little book is to celebrate you.
“I wrote it for you, so that when someone tells you to think a little smaller, tells you to be quiet, to be less bold, to fit in, you come back here to this little book and my words, and remember to dream big, big gargantuan dreams in the brightest colors. Because without you and your big dreams this world would cry. We need you because you are special.”
