Sofyan Amrabat says he’s will always give his all for the Manchester United cause – no matter the position or amount of time he’s needed on the pitch.

The Moroccan has had to be patient for his opportunity in the Reds’ engine room this year, until being handed a starting berth against Arsenal at the weekend and resuming that role for the visit of Newcastle United in our final Old Trafford clash of the season.

Our no.4 impressed as Erik ten Hag’s men signed off for the summer on home soil with a 3-2 win over the Magpies, through goals from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad and Rasmus Hojlund.

Speaking to MUTV after the game about fighting to return to the team, Amrabat said: “It was not easy, of course, because everybody wants to play.

Sofyan says United are a strong side, and will be boosted by victory over Newcastle...

“I had to be patient, but I was always ready for the team. when they need me, where they need me, even it was one minute or 10 minutes. I always give my best, in training, I try to help the team.

“I think there's only one thing that you can do; work hard and wait till the chance will come. [It’s] maybe a bit late, end of the season, but I'm happy that the chance came and that we won today.”

However, the midfielder stressed that United fans haven't yet seen perform to the best of his abilities.

“It's also nice to show yourself, but it's still not Sofyan Amrabat on the top, how I can play,” he continued. “It's my second game now in four, five months that I played 90 minutes, so I'm not 100 per cent as normal.

“But I'm very happy that I showed that I played good, and the team played good, and we wanted to win this game.”

Amrabat felt the team built on the display against Arsenal, which despite ending in defeat, offered some encouragement.

“I think if you play like this, we're a very good team, a strong team and difficult to win against.

The Reds end the home season on a high to take the chase for a European spot to the final day.

“In general, in football, when you play good, when you win games, it gives confidence. I think that's a fact. Against Arsenal, we played very good. I think we deserved more. And today we played again a very good performance.

“Football starts with that; making good performances and then when you play good, maybe sometimes you have also the luck with you, you score goals, and we make some nice and good saves.

“It gives a lot of confidence when you win games and play good.”
