In April, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour made waves with the announcement of Luck and Strange, the legendary Pink Floyd guitarist’s first full-length solo offering since 2015’s Rattle That Lock, due to release on September 6 via Sony Music. On Monday, May 13, Gilmour compounded on that excitement by plotting a limited run of U.S. dates to precede and support the release, marking the artist’s first excursion to stateside venues in eight years. Today, to meet a roar of demand, the artist has unveiled a third performance at Madison Square Garden, slated for Nov. 6 as his fifth and final U.S. tour date of 2024.

Gilmour’s U.S. run comprises two coastal sets, beginning with a pair of appearances at Los Angeles’ famed Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 29 and 30. The artist will then jump across the country for a trio at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden, booked for Nov. 4-6. Gilmour has been explicit that these will be his only American performances of the year, though not his only expected stagings. The musician will precede this run with a limited series of European dates, following six nights at Rome’s Circo Massimo on Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 1-3 with a hometown residency at London’s esteemed Royal Albert Hall, which will host the artist on Oct. 9-11 and 14-15.

Detailing the lineup for his tour dates, Gilmour listed in his press release: “Guy Pratt, bass and background vocals; Greg Phillinganes, keyboards; Rob Gentry, Keyboards; Adam Betts, drums; Ben Worsley, guitar; Louise Marshall, background vocals; Hattie Webb, background vocals and Charlie Webb, background vocals.”

Earlier this month, Gilmour outlined his 2024 tour dates in a cover story for Uncut. On the content of the performances, he stresses an “unwillingness to revisit the Pink Floyd of the ’70s,” per Uncut. Unfortunately for golden-era die-hards, this formulation counts out iconic entries like Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall, though it leaves the door open for some formative and mature Floyd cuts. When asked about the potential for these projects to make the mix, Gilmour offered, “Yeah, they might be better represented. I mean, at least one from the 60s. The one we’ve done in the past is ‘Astronomy’ [“Astronomy Domine,” track one from 1967 debut The Piper at the Gates of Dawn]. That’s always entertaining and fun and gets people off to a happy start. There’s songs from the [A] Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell albums. I mean, I think ‘High Hopes’ is as good as anything we ever did at any time.”
