During its May 13 regular meeting, the Magnolia ISD board of trustees approved raises and one-time retention payments for the district's staff.

The big picture

All MISD nonteaching staff will receive a 1% pay increase, according to the May 13 agenda packet. Pay increases for teachers will be staggered based on years of experience and are as follows:

  • 0-5 years: 1% raise
  • 6-15 years: 1.5% raise
  • 16-25 years: 2% raise
  • 26-plus years: 3% raise

Additionally, all employees who return for the 2024-25 school year and are employed as of Sept. 1 will receive a one-time retention payment of a minimum of $500 on their Sept. 15 paycheck, according to the agenda packet.

Cost to the district

MISD is using $1.25 million in leftover funding to pay for these raises and retention payments, Community Impact previously reported.



The district also is not anticipating having a shortfall budget, district officials said in a May 14 email. However, trustees did discuss the potential of a voter-approval tax rate election ballot initiative to increase funding at its first budget workshop meeting on April 15.
