I think there’s a significant number of “heterodox” (idiots) who never gave any real thought to the issue, but have taken Israel’s side only because most queer/trans people are pro-Palestine. And granted, there are queer/trans ppl who only took the side of Palestine because it was the woke choice.
Meanwhile some of us trains have been following the issue in Palestine closely since we made friends with recently displaced Palestinian kids back in high school and learned how badly western imperialism was fucking up the entire world

Yeah, I think a lot of people here (especially of the cis, white, straight category) don’t realize that identity politics can sometimes work in reverse of what it unfortunately currently does.
The fact that I was crushing on other boys in middle school was a huge push for me to the far left. Once I realized my right wing police officer parents hated me for my sexuality, it made it so suddenly it was natural to question everything they were telling me about the state, capitalism, the military and war, etc… I was reading communist newsletters by the 8th grade.
Being a social outcast at high school forced me to hang out with the other outcasts, which given it was the height of the bush era war on terror, included the Muslim kids. Those kids were all very sympathetic to my communist rants, and hearing their stories of displacement from the countries they grew up inward such as Palestine and Afghanistan, solidified an anti-imperialist worldview.
