New comic book series, We Love Ibiza, documents the history of the White Isle

A new comic book series documenting the history of Ibiza has been announced.

We Love Ibiza, a three-part comic book, will visually portray the evolution of the White Isle over the last seven decades. The first instalment, titled The Golden Older Years, will cover the period up until 1986 and is scheduled to hit shelves this October.

The comic book will include a range of Ibiza regulars, including Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Terry Farley, DJ Pippi, Gee Moore, Jamie Jones, and more. It will also feature some of the island’s most famous clubs, like Space, Amnesia, and others.

The website description also notes that the comic books will showcase "the soul seekers and experimentalists who followed a dream and made Ibiza their home," while adding that Ibiza "isn't just about DJs and nightclubs, there's so much more to this crazy little place."

The second part of the comic book trilogy will delve into the years  between 1987 and 2004, while the third instalment will span from 2005 to the present day. Each of the three comic books will consist of approximately 150 pages.

The books will be produced by Make Me A Comic, a British company founded by Laura Gold. The team comprises professional comic artists and writers who have been working on We Love Ibiza for the past one and a half years.

“By the time this project is complete we will have interviewed over 400 people, completed 1000’s of hours of research online and read close to 50 books,” the description adds.

In other Ibiza news, the island announced a ban on alcohol sales after 9:30 PM in San Antonio shops last week to curb "excessive tourism". The new rules mean that holidaymakers caught drinking outside of authorised areas could face fines of up to €1,500, as per regulations set by the Balearic government.

Amnesia, which is set to be featured in the forthcoming comic book, also announced its full 2024 program last week, confirming the likes of Sammy Virji, Oppidan, Arielle Free, DJ EZ, and more.
