Just when the Nuggets appeared dead in the water, the defending NBA champions once again showcased their mettle.

Facing a must-win Game 3 amid a 2-0 series deficit, the Nuggets trounced the Timberwolves on the road, 117-90. Now, with Game 4 looming on Sunday evening, Denver has a chance to regain homecourt advantage and even up the second round series at 2-2.

Friday's Game 3 loss marked Minnesota's first loss this postseason. The Timberwolves had previously swept the Suns in the first round; then, they took the first two games of the second round matchup from the Nuggets, winning both on the road.

But Game 3 told a different story. Five different Nuggets scored in double-figures, including Nikola Jokic (24 points), Jamal Murray (24 points) and Michael Porter Jr. (21 points), as Denver cracked what had been a stingy Minnesota defense.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves shot just 44 percent from the field and 30 percent from beyond the arc. Only Anthony Edwards scored more than 15 points.
