FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Fort Leonard Wood’s Army Community Service team has scheduled an open house event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10 at ACS, Bldg. 486 on Replacement Avenue, in celebration of National Military Spouse Appreciation Day.

“Military Spouse Appreciation Day is an occasion to acknowledge the critical role played by military spouses in supporting their partners’ service, often making significant sacrifices themselves,” said Gabe Medina, ACS’s Relocation Readiness Program manager and the event organizer. “They are the backbone of military families, providing unwavering love and support in the face of frequent relocations, deployments and other challenges.”

According to Medina, the event will include refreshments, a cake cutting and informational booths.

“This event will showcase all the various programs ACS offers to our community members. Information tables will consist of Army Emergency Relief, Relocation Lending Closet, Financial Planning, Fatherhood Initiative, summer safety for kids and Exceptional Family Member Program,” Medina said.

This would be a good time to stop in for information about ACS’s programs, according to Medina, because, “ACS subject matter experts will be on-hand to answer questions on how to enroll in EFMP, child wellness, parenting tips, summer primary change of station moves, emergency preparedness and financial wellbeing.”

Medina said attendees will also be able to fill out a Military Spouse Appreciation Day support leaf and place it on the ACS appreciation tree, which will be displayed throughout May in the ACS lobby.
