SRK has now quit smoking.

Shah Rukh Khan's Koyla co-star Pradeep Rawat recalled his chain smoking days but said that it didn't affect his dedication towards films.

It is a known fact that Shah Rukh Khan used to smoke a lot during the start of his career. While the actor claims that he has quit smoking now, several photos and videos from his early days feature him indulging in a smoke. In a recent chat, actor Pradeep Rawat recalled that Shah Rukh was a “true chain smoker”. Pradeep worked with Shah Rukh in Rakesh Roshan’s Koyla, also starring Madhuri Dixit.

Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Pradeep said, “I wasn’t close to Shah Rukh during the shooting, but he was always well-mannered and a wonderful person. One thing I remember vividly is that I haven’t seen any other actor smoke as much as he did. He would light a cigarette, use it to light another, and then light yet another one. He was a true chain smoker. Nonetheless, his dedication to the film was undeniable.”

Back in 2011, speaking at the India Today conclave, the actor shared that he wanted to spend more time with his youngest son AbRam and smoking came in the way. He expressed that he wanted to spend time with him just like he did with Aryan and Suhana. “Yes, that is a worry. So that keeps you smoking less, drinking less, and exercising more. I am planning to give up all (smoking, drinking, etc) and try to be healthier and happier,” he added.

Last year, during an AMA session on Twitter, a fan asked Shah Rukh if he had quit smoking. Shah Rukh Khan replied, “Yes he lied, surrounded by a thick plume of smoke from his cancer stick!”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to reunite with Anirudh Ravichander. The music composer who worked with King Khan for his 2023 movie Jawan, has now been reportedly roped in for the actor’s upcoming movie, King.

As reported by Pinkvilla, Shah Rukh Khan was “very happy” with the way Anirudh worked on Jawan’s music and therefore, the actor has decided to work with him again. Reportedly, Anirudh has now been roped in to produce the theme music for SRK’s King. The composer is said to be excited about the venture and is likely to begin working on the film in August 2024.

“King is a one of its kind action thriller, that will introduce a new flavour of action to the audience. Shah Rukh Khan, Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh understand the importance of BGM for a film in this space and have roped in the best in business – Anirudh,” a source cited by the entertainment portal claimed.

King is being produced by Siddharth Anand and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The film will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh and will also star SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan. Recently, it was revealed that Shah Rukh will be playing a Don in his film. Much like his OG Don role, he will have shades of grey in King.
