Industry-specific training and resources for linen, uniform and facility services staff and executives are available through TRSA’s LevelUp Laundry Supervisory Skills Training and Maintenance Certificate Program, to name two examples.
The LevelUp Plant Supervisory Skills Training program is TRSA’s dedicated course focused on developing individuals who are new to their supervisory role or are seeking to enhance their supervisory skills in a commercial-laundry plant operation. The course covers the essential skills needed for successful supervision, including effective communication, problem solving, decision-making, team building and conflict resolution.
Participants will learn how to motivate and engage their team, set goals and expectations, and provide constructive feedback. The course also will address the importance of safety, quality and productivity in a manufacturing environment, and will help familiarize supervisors with each station in the operation. Through 10, 45-minute modules (released weekly and available around the trainees’ schedule), and interactive exercises and case studies, LevelUp participants will develop practical strategies and techniques for supervisors to make a positive impact on employees and the plant operation. For its Maintenance Certificate program, TRSA has partnered with TPC Training, a leader in industrial training and workforce-management solutions, to offer a new online program for maintenance tech positions, offering plants a way to advance the experience and training of their plant-maintenance crew without taking them out of the plant.
The program offers three types of maintenance tech training: Maintenance Tech 1, Maintenance Tech 2 and Maintenance Manager. Each maintenance tech type is broken into two certification levels and can be completed in less than one year, averaging 2-4 hours per week. An engineer with no experience to a more-experienced engineer can test out of certain classes to obtain the level of certificate that the student is attempting to achieve.
