Here are 12 free indie delights for you to choose from

Gather around, one and all. If you’re a PC gamer looking to enjoy some new titles on a shoestring budget, you’re in the right place.

It’s not unusual to see people turn their nose up at the phrase ‘free-to-play’, but being free-to-play doesn’t make a game any less of a title.

If you’re someone who enjoys discovering the next indie delight, scouring free-to-play titles is a great way to do just that.

Making a game free can attract eyes which, in turn, can help boost word-of-mouth praise.

So if you’re looking to help support the next generation of indie devs, you may want to check out these six new free-to-play titles which have landed on Steam, brought to our attention by the ever reliable SteamGamesPC.

Before we dive in, I’ll note that these join Super Dragon Punch Force 3, SuperEat Man, Miami Hotel Simulator, Garm Ruins, Pixel Puzzles, and Ivorfall - a further six free games added earlier this week.

Sand Land has a free demo available on Steam.

First up, we have World of Solaria, a 2D MMORPG which sees players team up with fellow users worldwide to “conquer foes, master skills, and unearth hidden artifacts.”

“Craft your destiny, engage in PvP battles, and shape Solaria's destiny in a dynamic economy,” reads the synopsis.

Boasting an old-school aesthetic, this one should appeal to those with a yearning for nostalgia although do note that players have criticised the game’s simplicity.

Rubedo Games have launched a free prologue to their release Soulbind. This is an action roguelike platformer that sees you assume the role of a skeleton.

“The hero is a common skeleton and an outsider. But there is one special feature - you can replace your body parts with parts of your opponents' bodies. Learn the backstory and start your journey in the world of Allaar,” reads the description.

What’s nice about this prologue is that it’s a prologue in the literal sense. It’s a short backstory set before the events of the main game, introducing you to the playable character.

It’s not unusual these days for prologues to simply offer out the first, say, chapter of the game so it’s great to see that’s not the case here.

If platformers are more your thing, then you may want to check out Sime Is Back from Grande Spallone Games.

“Sime's back, celebrated by locals but tired of exploitation. Join him & his feline friend on a whimsical Adriatic journey. Armed with his fish, Sime confronts enemies, smashes crates & reclaims what's his. Dive into this charming adventure of chaos, camaraderie, & fish-flinging fun,” teases the synopsis.

How can you say no to fish-flinging fun?

TxK Gaming Studios’ Dungeon Full Dive: Player Edition is a party-based TTRPG: “Create up to three heroes, design your own maps, and dive into a world of adventure. The Player Edition is your gateway to an ever-expanding universe of TTRPGs.”

Additionally, RealityPatch Studios have recently launched action roguelike Nephilim Uprising. It’s in early access and is a third-person shooter.

In this game, you’ll navigate “procedurally generated labyrinths, face intense combat scenarios, and conquer divine challenges to prove yourself in the celestial arena!”

Finally, we have daruma’s Stacking Fairy. This one’s a multiplayer that’s essentially a race to see who can build the tallest tower.

As always, there should be a bit of something for everyone.
